Infertility can be a tough and sometimes seemingly lonely road to travel. You are not alone! Our roads may take different twists and turns, but we can come alongside each other whenever possible and yell "keep trekking!' while giving cheesy high fives.
I have been married 10 years to my handsome bald hubs and have been wandering the road of infertility and loss for over 6 years. Our world got wonderfully turned upside down with the adoptions of the two cutest kids who also happen to have Down syndrome. I am crazy passionate about orphan/foster care, orphan prevention and encouraging women struggling with infertility. I work part-time as a Family Nurse Practitioner and am adjunct faculty at a university. Here is my attempt to occasionally shares stories about navigating the waters of infertility, adoption, miscarriage and my frequently encountered awkward moments of life. High Five! Keep Trekking!
Today is the last day of #nationaladoptionmonth
I wrote about meeting our daughter this past spring but never intended to really share it publicly. I want to share it today with a prayer that you may consider foster care or adopting a waiting child.
427,910 children are living without permanent families in the foster care system in the US. 111,820 of these children are waiting to be adopted. (Source:adoption and foster care analysis and reporting system from the US dept of health and human services)

And as I am still #floatingthecloud of sentiment, 3 years ago today, an Ukrainian judge declared this wacky group of three a family! November and December are big months for our family and this tradition will carry on with Sister. Court is set for December to finalize her adoption. You guys. Why am I crying again?!?! I am the luckiest. #adoptionrocks #betterthanwecouldaskorimagine #heartswentpop #cartervadimsepicstory
As November comes to an end, I cannot help but reflect on how different my life looks than I ever imagined it would. I was never one to really deep dive into "this is how I picture my life in 5 years" but guys, past-Carly would have never in a million years guessed what now-Carly's life would look like: two adopted 3 year olds with Down syndrome. And I cannot even begin to wonder what future-Carly's life will be like. Dude. I feel like the insta-twins here in this pic, amazed and in awe for a good 30 minutes at the Bubbles and how they change colors. I am in awe and wonder of how God writes our stories. Even out of junk and ashes. It's like the coolest and prettiest changing color bubble tank ever. #betterthanwecouldaskorimagine #downsyndromeadoption #dfamilythanksgiving2016

Thanksgiving eve zoo lights. Ohh CarterVadim screamed "no-all done" the first 30 minutes and demanded being carried the entire time, leaving us feeling like evil parents who brought our kid to walk through a gauntlet of tortuous Christmas lights .......thankful for lots of benches to rest and drink coco and eat kettle corn to heal our gauntlet wounds. After we made it through some serious people congestion and sensory overload portions, we were able to spread out and enjoy all the lights! Overall verdict= success and fun. Mama forces family fun time and darn it everyone better like it 😉#dfamilythanksgiving2016
This wild and free explorer...... Thankful for friends who call to meet at the children's museum during the week of no school and then don't bat at eye to help you chase down your two spunky 3 year olds, even though they have an adorable busy 1 year old explorer themselves. Great success as Both kids took 2 hour naps giving me time to cram in some more Gilmore Girls before Friday. priorities people. Thanks @kadevine for a fun morning outing to tire them out! #dfamilythanksgiving2016 #cartervadimdoesthree #theluckyfew
To be Thankful. "Glad that something has happened or not happened" per ole Webster. That seems simple enough. However, to be conscious, to be present enough, to know and acknowledge those moments before they quickly pass by can be a bit trickier. We have a lot that we sure are glad that has happened. #betterthanwecouldaskorimagine #dfamilythanksgiving2016 #thiswalkerlife
Finally getting some cooler weather cuddles. #cartervadimdoesfall
